OpenText™ has confirmed a known conversion issue with RightFax™ 10.6. According to the latest OpenText™ Technical Alert, “In OpenText™ RightFax™ 10.6, fax information may get delivered to the wrong recipient. The tracking number for this issue is RF-13998.”

The issue exists when the content of a document fails conversion. When this happens, the content that fails conversion may get merged with the content of a new fax and delivered to the wrong recipient. Faxes delivered to the wrong recipient may cause HIPAA violations which could result in fines as well as civil and criminal penalties.

The specific products affected by this issue are:

  • RightFax™ 10.6 FP2 SR1
  • RightFax™ 10.6 FP2
  • RightFax™ 10.6 FP1 SR3
  • RightFax™ 10.6 FP1 SR2
  • RightFax™ 10.6 FP1 SR1
  • RightFax™ 10.6 FP1

This issue does not affect RightFax™ 10.5.

This conversion issue has been a known issue for more than a year, but has not been addressed until the release of RightFax™ 10.6 FP2 SR2. However, if you are considering an upgrade to RightFax™ 10.6 FP2 SR2, or changes of any kind to your RightFax™ environment, please contact an IIS Fax Specialist to ensure the latest RightFax™ release does not have an adverse impact on your fax environment.

Additionally, with RightFax™ 10.5 nearing Sustaining Maintenance, now is an excellent time to consider alternative fax solutions that provide more sophisticated functionality, seamless cloud migration, lower-cost methods for Disaster Recovery, and more reliable performance. Learn more about these industry-leading fax solutions or contact and IIS Fax Specialist today.
